Hey y'all

who I am & what I do

I'm Rebecca (she/her) and I am a cultural heritage expert with a specialization in archives, libraries, metadata, and historical research. My interests are around the intersections of community and institutional archives, inclusion/exclusion and bias in metadata, and ethical and sustainable labor practices in the field. I have experience in archival appraisal, processing, and description, outreach, instruction, and full-scale digitization. As an historian, my work focuses on nineteenth century African American history, including narratives of enslaved persons and the abolitionist movement, primarily those of Frederick Douglass.
